The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency conducted by St. Bernards Medical Center has an accreditation status with ASHP.
Purpose: PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Staffing Requirements
As part of the hospital staffing longitudinal experience, residents will be required to staff:
- Every 4th Weekend - Saturday and Sunday (varied hours and shifts)
- As assigned during weeks of high PTO volume (e.g., spring break week, around Christmas and New Years holidays)
- One minor and one major holiday as assigned based on department needs (major: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day; minor: Memorial Day and Labor Day)
