Areas of Specialty

Our pathology department is comprehensive and provides a variety of services to ensure accurate assessment and diagnosis of many types of diseases.

Anatomic pathology
Anatomic pathology helps doctors diagnose disease and manage treatment. Anatomic pathology includes histopathology, which among other things determines whether a tumor is benign or malignant. Cytopathology is the examination of cells like a Pap smear.

Clinical pathology
Clinical pathology mainly involves the use of body fluids to diagnose health problems. This includes blood, urine and other body fluids.

Leading the way from behind the scenes

Patients rarely meet pathology team members, but anyone who has a test depends on them to do their job. The pathology team’s work supports the diagnosis and treatment of patients in our cancer center, our heart center, OB\GYN, primary care, surgery and more.
