The need to stabilize mental health symptoms and behaviors can happen any time of day or night. At St. Bernards, our psychiatric services are available 24-hours for inpatient care to ensure you, or your loved one is safe during these critical times.

The psychiatrists at St. Bernards understand treating mental health issues is about more than just counseling conversations. To understand the circumstances, they must use a comprehensive approach by examining underlying biological and neurochemical possible causes. The psychiatrists and medical physicians carefully review each individual's needs and are licensed to prescribe medication should they see it will benefit the patient’s treatment plan. For some issues, hospitalization may be a necessary treatment option. These issues can include but are not limited to:

  • Substance abuse
  • Depression
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • or mental health problems with severe symptoms

The Behavioral Health Unit is located in Jonesboro and provides inpatient care for adults suffering from behavioral or psychiatric health disorders. Our staff uses a comprehensive approach when it comes to caring for our patients. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a treatment for depression when medications are not producing the desired results. Clinical data reports higher response and remission rates than medication: 83% response and 62% remission.

TMS is offered as an outpatient treatment service.

TMS is an FDA-cleared non-invasive outpatient procedure. The process uses a pulsed magnetic field to stimulate function in areas of the brain that affect mood. The treatments are 20–minute sessions over a period of four to six weeks. As there are no side effects for this treatment, patients can immediately return to normal activities following, including driving after treatment.
