St. Bernards Auxiliary Presents Big Check To Complete Villa Chapel Commitment

The St. Bernards Auxiliary has paid off a commitment to provide $200,000 for construction of the chapel at St. Bernards Villa.

The group, which includes about 130 men and women who work in volunteer positions throughout the medical center, initially had projected they would be able to complete the financial commitment in five years – but with the presentation of an $80,000 check to St. Bernards President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Barber and Vice President of Senior and Affiliated Services Kevin Hodges this week, they have paid out the pledge in four years.

Auxiliary President Carol Hinck and Past President Linda Scott present the check at an Auxiliary meeting earlier this week. Funds came from proceeds from the St. Bernards Gift Shop.

In addition to the gift for The Villa, the Auxiliary funds $20,000 in Frank Hall Healthcare Scholarships and donates $20,000 for Auxiliary rooms for cancer patients each year.

Since their inception in 1963, the Auxiliary has donated nearly $2 million to St. Bernards for special projects, programs and equipment.
