Six Schools Receive PE Scholarships following Back-to-School Bash Fun Run/Walk

Students from six area elementary schools helped their respective schools win physical education scholarships by taking part in this year’s the Back-to-School Bash 2 Mile Kids Fun Run/Walk, an event held as a part of the St. Bernards Women’s Council’s Kids on the Mile.

The schools were divided into categories by size, with the top school in each category earning a $1,000 PE scholarship and the second-place school in each category earning a $500 scholarship. Winning schools were selected on the basis of the number of students registering for and taking part in the fun fun/walk.

First-place schools – and recipients of $1,000 scholarships -- were Jonesboro Visual and Performing Arts, Jonesboro International Studies and Concordia Academy.

Second-place schools – and recipients of $500 scholarships – were Blessed Sacrament School, Jonesboro Kindergarten Center and Valley View Elementary School.

Congratulations to the schools – and to the youngsters who took part in the 2014 Back-to-School Bash 2 Mile Kids on the Mile Fun Run/Walk!
