Six Craighead County Schools Receive PE Scholarships for Taking Part in Women’s Council’s Color Run

Six elementary and middle schools in Craighead County have received a total of $4,500 for their participation in the Back-to-School Bash Color Run sponsored by the St. Bernards Women’s Council earlier in the fall.

First-place winners received, $1,000 for use in the schools’ physical education programs; and second-place winners received $500 PE scholarships. Schools were divided into three general categories, depending on size.

Winners in the large school category were Brookland Elementary, first; and Brookland Middle School, second. Scholarship funding was provided by Fergus Orthodontics.

Mid-size school winners were the Jonesboro International Studies School, first; and Jonesboro Kindergarten Center, second. Scholarships were provided by Families, Inc.

Small school winners were Blessed Sacrament School, first; and Concordia Christian Academy, second. Children’s Clinic provided funding for scholarships.

The Back-to-School Bash 2 Mile Color Run involved youngsters in kindergarten through sixth grade and encourages physical activity for youngsters as part of a healthy lifestyle.
