St. Bernards Hospice will host its annual Christmas season event, “Moments of Remembrance,” on Wednesday, Dec. 9. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernards Auditorium, 505 East Washington, and will last about an hour and a half.
The holiday season can be a difficult time for families who have lost loved ones during the year. Sharing memories and celebrating the lives of those loved ones can help surviving family members begin to restore the joy of life. “Moments of Remembrance” gives family members a chance to do just that.
Each family is encouraged to bring a Christmas ornament in memory of their loved one, and the family or the hospice staff will attach to each ornament a tag bearing the name of the loved one. Ornaments will be placed on a Celebration Tree symbolizing the way memories of our loved ones continue to add significance and inspiration to our own lives. The Celebration Tree will remain in a place of honor throughout the holiday season and for years to come at the hospice house.
St. Bernards Hospice, established in 1989, provides holistic care of patients with life-limiting illnesses. For 25 years, St. Bernards has offered in-home hospice care. And for the last six years, they have offered inpatient hospice care at the free-standing Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at 1148 East Matthews Ave.
