Staff at St. Bernards Medical Center joined together to promote a very successful “Go Pink for the Cure Day” on Friday, Oct. 4.
People at the medical center sported pink shirts to bring attention to the fact that through a special program, St. Bernards was providing free screening mammograms for uninsured women from throughout Northeast Arkansas who met certain eligibility requirements.
The St. Bernards Mobile Women’s Unit was at Temple Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and St. Bernards Medical Group Physicians were on hand to perform free clinical breast exams from 8 to 3 Oct. 4. The demand was so great that before 11 a.m., all mammogram slots were filled.
Individuals who came to Go Pink for the Cure Day and were not able have mammograms done on Oct. 4 were scheduled for free mammograms on an alternate day.
Funding for the program came in part from Susan Komen for the Cure Arkansas Affiliate.
