Dr. Cristina Shaw Will Present Program on Why ‘Extreme’ Diets Fail

Dr. Cristina Shaw will present a program on “Why Extreme Diets Fail” at noon on Friday, March 13 at St. Bernards Health & Wellness.

The program is part of the monthly lunch & learn series sponsored by St. Bernards and Genentech.

Shaw oversees the Eating Disorders program at the St. Bernards Counseling Center.

Because of limited space, persons wishing to attend the Lunch & Learn are asked to make reservations by calling 870-207-7822 or by emailing jwharton@sbrmc.org.

From 7 until 10 Friday morning, St. Bernards will host its monthly community wellness screening. Some screenings are offered at no charge – total cholesterol, anemia, glucose, blood pressure and height/weight/bodymass index/body fat percentage. Others are offered at minimal charges – full lipid panel (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides), $8.50; Hemoglobin A1C (average blood sugar over three months), $6.50; and PSA (prostate specific antigen for men over 40), $12.50.

Fasting for 6 to 8 hours prior to blood draw is encouraged for to ensure accurate results.

Both events will be in the conference room at St. Bernards Health & Wellness, 1416 East Matthews Ave.
