Dr. Kasey Holder, vice president for medical affairs at St. Bernards, has been recognized as a member of the 2017 Class of Arkansas Business’s 40 Under 40.

She and 39 other individuals from throughout Arkansas were honored at a luncheon in Little Rock hosted by Arkansas Business. She is a native Arkansan who grew up in Northeast Arkansas and now plays a key role in improving the health of residents through the eastern part of the state.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Dr. Holder has spent time in private practice, has served on the full-time faculty of the UAMS Area Health Education Center-Northeast Family Practice Residency Program and also has served as a hospitalist at St. Bernards.

She is a second generation physician who has a passion for improving the health of residents throughout the region. After earning her M.D., she completed advanced training as an AHEC family practice resident. During part of that time, Holder provided weekend family medicine call coverage at Helena Regional Medical Center in one of the state’s most economically depressed areas, worked at the Piggott Community Hospital emergency department and provided weekend urgent care for Corning Area Healthcare. She has been in private practice in Paragould and has worked part time at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Holder became a full-time faculty member with the AHEC-Northeast Family Practice Residency Program in 2008, where she was highly successful in teaching young med school graduates. She combined her passion for direct patient care with teaching as she mentored dozens upon dozens of young physicians in advanced training. She also provided night call coverage for the St. Bernards hospitalist program and later served as medical director of that program.

In 2015 she was named vice president of medical affairs at St. Bernards

Holder and her husband have two young children and are active members of Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro.
