Back To School Bash 2 Mile Color Run Set for Saturday, Sept. 24

This year’s Back-to-School Bash 2 Mile Color Run program sponsored by the St. Bernard’s Women’s Council is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The event will begin and end at St. Bernards Auditorium, 505 East Washington Ave., and that will be the starting point for the fun run.

A number of area groups and organizations who provide resources to families with young children will be on hand that morning, with tables set up on the grounds at the Auditorium.

The run/walk is for youngsters in kindergarten through 6th grade and will start promptly at 8 a.m., with parents encouraged to participate with their children. Part of the fun will be the color component of the race. Four different color stations will be set up along the course to “throw” color at participants.

The course is well marked and will be supervised by volunteers.

Participants who were registered by Sept. 14 will be guaranteed T-shirts sizes, and all finishers will receive medals. In addition, awards will be presented to first- and second- place finishers for all running categories.

Registration is $10 per child, with scholarships available for qualifying students. Participants can register online by going to or by stopping by St. Bernards Health & Wellness, 1416 East Matthews Ave., and completing registration forms at the customer service desk.

Monetary physical education scholarship awards will be presented to the top two schools that have the highest percentage of students registered for and participating in the race. First-place schools will receive $1,000, and second-place schools will receive $500.
