Obstetrician and Gynecologist Kelsey Shnaekel, M.D. has joined the medical team at St. Bernards OB-GYN Associates. Dr. Shnaekel arrives at St. Bernards after completing a residency with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Dr. Shnaekel earned her doctorate of medicine from UAMS in 2016 and her bachelor of science from Arkansas State University in 2012, where she graduated as Chancellor Scholar in the College of Sciences and Mathematics; an award given to the top graduate in each respective college.
St. Bernards Medical Center Administrator Michael Givens said Dr. Shnaekel joins an already stellar team at OB-GYN Associates.
“We routinely hear from patients about the excellent care provided through our Women’s and Children’s Services,” Givens said. “We are excited to have Dr. Shnaekel join this incredible group of physicians.”
Givens also called it a homecoming of sorts bringing Dr. Shnaekel back to Jonesboro.
“Many of our finest physicians earned their undergraduate degrees at A-State, and we’re grateful when they return to northeast Arkansas,” Givens said. “Dr. Shnaekel’s credentials speak for themselves. She could have practiced anywhere she wished, yet she chose to be here.”
The UAMS Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology named Dr. Shnaekel its “Resident Teacher of the Year” in 2019 and its “Outstanding Resident in Gynecologic Oncology” and “Outstanding Resident in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology” in 2020. She holds a certification in laparoscopic surgery with the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and memberships with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Arkansas Medical Society.
Dr. Shnaekel lives in Jonesboro with her husband, Asa, and two Corgis.
