Neonatologist Enrique Gomez, MD, has joined the medical team at St. Bernards Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Dr. Gomez, a native of Peru, earned his medical degree in 2007 from Cayetano Heredia University, a private, nonprofit university in Lima, the country’s capital city. He arrives at St. Bernards after serving as a neonatologist in Meridian, Miss. and completing a neonatal perinatal medicine fellowship with the University of Kentucky’s Children’s Hospital in Lexington.
St. Bernards Medical Center Administrator Michael Givens said Dr. Gomez’s experiences bring a fresh perspective to the organization.
“Dr. Gomez comes to St. Bernards after nearly two decades studying and practicing medicine, and we’re excited he chose to join our team,” Givens said. “Furthermore, he possesses the ability to speak both English and Spanish fluently; a trait that will undoubtedly help us better serve our patients in Northeast Arkansas.”
Dr. Gomez has board certification with the American Board of Pediatrics. He currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor of pediatrics for the University of Kentucky’s Division of Neonatology.
