

Interventional Cardiologist Amer Hawatmeh, M.D. has joined the medical team at St. Bernards Medical Center. Dr. Hawatmeh arrives at St. Bernards from Newark, N.J. after finishing a fellowship in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr. Hawatmeh, a native of Jordan, earned his doctorate of medicine degree from the University of Jordan in 2010. After serving as a medical intern and internal medicine resident for a total of three years, he moved to the United States in 2013, where he began a three-year internal medicine residency at New York Medical College at Saint Michael’s Medical Center.
St. Bernards Medical Center Administrator Michael Givens said the addition of Dr. Hawatmeh further solidifies St. Bernards as the region’s premier cardiovascular provider.
“Dr. Hawatmeh brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the region’s top cardiovascular team,” Givens said. “We are excited how he can improve upon the great work our HeartCare system does every day.”
Dr. Hawatmeh’s medical expertise includes interventional cardiology, invasive cardiology and non-invasive cardiology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography and Vascular Interpretation. He speaks both English and Arabic fluently and lives in Jonesboro with his wife, St. Bernards OB-GYN Ilana Naghi, M.D.
