St. Bernards is hosting the annual National Cancer Survivors Day celebration at the Valley View Multipurpose Building from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. Doors open at noon and lunch will be served starting at 12:30 p.m.
National Cancer Survivors Day is held every year on the first Sunday in June to celebrate the strength and life of cancer survivors across the United States. The luncheon hosted by St. Bernards is free and open to all cancer survivors.
“We always celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day because we see every day the effect cancer can have on a patient and their family,” said Dr. Mazen Khalil, medical oncologist with St. Bernards Cancer Center. “We see this event as a great way to celebrate our patients’ lives, acknowledge their courage and highlight to everyone that a meaningful life after cancer diagnosis is a good possibility.”
The program will feature three cancer survivors sharing their stories, a fun photo booth and several door prizes, including one grand prize. The St. Bernards Cancer Center physicians will be present to host a panel and to honor their patients, past and present. All survivors in attendance will receive a free t-shirt.
