Hospitalist Chelsea Thompson Joins St. Bernards Medical Center

Sep 09, 2022

Hospitalist Chelsea Thompson, D.O. has joined the medical staff at St. Bernards Medical Center, specializing in inpatient care. Dr. Thompson arrives at St. Bernards after working three years in Family Medicine at a partnering medical provider.

A native of Burdette, Dr. Thompson earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) in 2016 from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss. She then completed a Family Medicine Residency from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Northeast Regional Campus in Jonesboro.

Dr. Thompson expressed an eagerness to see patients where she trained during her residency.

“At UAMS, I had the privilege of practicing at St. Bernards, and since, I’ve continued practicing in Northeast Arkansas,” Dr.  Thompson said. “Few people enjoy a hospital stay. As a physician, however, I hope to ease the burden that patients and their families feel, because their care is my highest priority.”

St. Bernards Medical Center Vice President of Medical Affairs Kasey Holder, M.D., a hospitalist herself by trade, said Dr. Thompson bolsters a stellar team of providers.

“Our hospitalists treat all sorts of diseases and injuries, and these physicians must integrate well, because they provide around-the-clock care to our patients,” Dr. Holder said. “Dr. Thompson knows St. Bernards from her residency. She’s chosen to practice in this region, and she will prove an incredible addition here.”

Dr. Thompson holds Board Certification in Family Medicine. She lives in Jonesboro with her husband, Jon Thompson, M.D., also a hospitalist with St. Bernards, and their two children.
