St. Bernards will sponsor a series of free classes for people with diabetes beginning Tuesday, April 11, and continuing through Tuesday, May 23.
Participants will learn how to live healthier with diabetes. They will learn how the disease affects the body and how to make sense of blood sugar numbers. Classes will include hands-on practical and fun group and individual activities.
The facilitator will be Karan Summitt, health educator at St. Bernards. Sessions will last about 1 ½ hours and will be held at 5 p.m. at the Total Life Healthcare site on the ground level at 505 East Matthews Ave.
The program is open to the community, but will be of special interest to diabetics and their families. Classes are part of an initiative to address population health through education, and materials were prepared by TMF Quality Innovation Network and Quality Improvement Organization under contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Persons interested in attending can register by calling 870-207-7488.
Seating will be limited.
