Want to Say Thank You?
Help Us Honor St. Bernards Exceptional Clinical and Non-Clinical Staff
We welcome any patients or family members of patients to nominate a nurse or care team member by sharing a special story demonstrating the exceptional and compassionate care they provided to a patient. You can submit your nomination for a nurse by completing the DAISY Award nomination form and you can nominate a non-nursing team member by completing the BEE Award nomination form below:
Honors Nurses and Nurse Leaders for Exceptional Service and Care
The Daisy Award is a nationally recognized program that honors and celebrates the compassionate care nurses provide daily. Awards are determined and given monthly, which are driven by patient family and staff nominations.
Honors Support Staff Outside of Nursing for Exceptional Service and Care
The BEE (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) Award was established to recognize our team members who go beyond expectations outside of nursing such as nursing assistants, house keepers, physical therapists, phlebotomists, transporters, and more. Just as a daisy cannot survive without a bee, our nurses rely on the support of other staff to provide exceptional care. Awards are determined and given monthly, which are driven by patients, family, and staff.
Josie Rieves, RN
Nominated by a patient's family member:
“My husband passed away January 28th of 2022. He died from COVID complications. He was only 51. As bad as this has been for our family, we take comfort in knowing Josie is the one that took care of him. I spent a month in the hospital with my mom in 2019, and Josie is the best, most caring nurse! We became so attached to her — my husband, myself, and our children. She is now considered part of our family. She is absolutely the best nurse I’ve ever known! She described everything in full before doing anything or giving meds. She answered every question I asked. And believe me there were a bunch! St Bernards is so lucky to have her. If anyone deserves an award, it is Josie, even if it’s for compassion alone because she definitely has that!“
Logan Russom, LPN
Nominated by a patient's family member:
“So without being too long-winded, my 92-year-old mother is in the COVID unit after having a surgery and a colostomy bag installed 12 days ago. Although we have had nothing but superb care while here, Logan (last night) went above and beyond to take care of my mother!
I am my mom’s caregiver, and since the surgery, was getting over COVID, myself, and had only slept 5 hours from Tuesday morning to Thursday night! My first couple of nurses were awesome but Logan was the best!
When Logan came in, he immediately came to our room to introduce himself and asked me about my mother, who had finally gone to sleep after a very uncomfortable day. I had planned to stay with her all night, even though I hadn’t had any sleep, but he insisted that I go get some rest and assured me he would take care of her. I felt extremely guilty going home to sleep knowing that she would panic if she woke up and I wasn’t here, but somehow Logan managed to help her through the night without her calling me or texting me which is unheard of. Then she woke up when I came in today and told me how nice he was!
I had missed Logan leaving by about 30 minutes and was afraid that I wouldn’t get to thank him. But to my surprise — even though he’s not her nurse tonight — he came by to check on her anyway and assured me that I could go home again; that he would make sure him and Jacob, her nurse tonight, would take excellent care of her.
There’s no way I would go home if he weren’t here tonight and told him that!
I can assure you that there’s not a better nurse at this facility, and they’re all good from my perspective! Please acknowledge Logan for his efforts!
"You work so hard all the time and you take care of people all the time. Sometimes, that can get a little exhausting. But when you are awarded a DAISY Award, it is like fresh air"
