I remember…
When I was hired 32 years ago in 1989 as a temp data clerk, St. Bernards began converting from paper to computers. My job was to enter the MPI, Master Patient Index, into the computer from index cards. These index cards were stored in a “rolodex.” The rolodex covered an entire wall. I’d get one drawer at a time, enter all the information into the computer, return the drawer and move onto the next. I worked on this project for 13 months as a temp before being hired full-time. Not sure what happened to all those index cards!
