A few months ago Destiny, BSW saw an unhoused person in the Walmart parking lot. She had 3 dogs with her and was asking for food for them. They went inside and got them food/water. They also got her supplies that she may need including a wagon to pull around her supplies as she did not have anything like that. Just a few days ago Destiny was at Walgreens when she was approached by a person who said she had just been discharged from St Bernards and could not afford her medications. She stated that she only had $8 to her name and needed part of that for a ride to get home. Destiny had on her name badge and St Bernards sweatshirt and so this person trusted that she could ask her for help. Which really says something about our organization as a whole. Destiny paid for the person's medications. She shows true empathy and perhaps more importantly, compassion, towards those in need both inside and outside of the hospital.
