Director of Pharmacy at St. Bernards Leads Statewide Group

 

Dr. Willie Capers, director of pharmacy and respiratory care at St. Bernard’s Medical Center, has been installed as president of the Arkansas Association of Health System Pharmacists (AAHP). Capers became president during the AAHP 45th annual fall seminar held at the Holiday Inn Airport Conference Center in Little Rock.

 

AAHP is a 400-member organization made up of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students which supports professionals associated with organized healthcare settings.  Capers is also an active member of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association and serves on that organization’s board of directors. 

 

Capers received his Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from Texas Southern University and completed two years of pharmacy residencies at Aurora Healthcare. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Arkansas State University. In 2007, Capers was named Preceptor of the Year by Texas Southern University.

 

He serves on the board of visitors at Harding University College of Pharmacy; is an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy; is a member of the hospital advisory committee for the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy; and is residency director at St Bernard’s Medical Center.

 

Capers is a graduate of Leadership Jonesboro Class of 2011 and is active in United Way o Northeast Arkansas.   Members of the Living Word Church, he and his wife Billesa have two daughters, Winston and Braylon.
