On July 10, 1952, the Cross County Hospital opened the doors of its half-million dollar institution. At the time, it was equipped with the most modern and complete equipment that could be bought, offering the best medical care available in the area. In 1999, St. Bernards Healthcare entered into a five-year lease agreement to operate Cross County Hospital, a 54-bed rural hospital that serviced the medically underserved counties of Cross, St. Francis and Woodruff. Changing the name to CrossRidge Community Hospital, it became a Critical Access Hospital thereby reducing its licensed beds to 15 acute and 10 swing beds in July 2000. Many upgrades have been implemented since the lease agreement was signed including medical equipment, phone systems and computer systems. In addition, facility renovations were made both inside and outside.
